All good things must come to an end. Whoever said that originally is nuts!
Summer is coming to a close, as the Girlies go back to school.
I don’t want to summer to end.
I talked about how I will feel when the first day of school rolls around here.
And even though it will be exciting and sad and busy and fun… it’s good to remember how we began our summer.
We kicked off our summer in a good way!! (I modified the 2nd grade and 5th grade signs and you can find the originals here.)
In fact, I’ve done this the last three years. This summer, I wasn’t going to and then a few days before the last day of school, Big Sis M asked “Mom I can’t wait to see what the posters say this year!”
As a total aside, both girls are standing the same way while reading her sign – I guess that means they ARE sisters!
So with Big Sis M’s comment, I scrambled to pull the summer kickoff together.
I made 10 signs for each daughter. The first one said “You had an awesome Xth grade and you did a lot of great things!” And the last sign said “You are promoted to Xth grade!” The remaining eight signs listed a special accomplishment from the school year.
I had each choose her favorite accomplishment and then I chose my favorite accomplishment. By snapping a picture, it’s a good way to remember a special something from the year.
The signs were easy to make. I printed each accomplishment on different colored card stock and then stapled them to wood stakes I bought at Home Depot. I hammered each stake into the ground next to the driveway. Simple.
And now we begin a new school year and are excited to see what good things they do this year!
