My niece, Sissy, is engaged to a wonderful guy, Heath. It’s been a blessing to watch their relationship grow. They began as friends in college, meeting in one of the dorms as freshman. There was a big group of gals and guys that went to football games, parties, basketball games, class and more together – doing all the fun stuff you do in college with friends. Somewhere around junior / senior year their friendship changed into something more and love grew from that friendship. It’s a beautiful thing! And now they are engaged to be married in the fall of 2014.
Her Mom and Dad are throwing a party to celebrate Sissy and Heath and their engagement. Joyfully, I designed and made the invitation. It was a labor of love. Her colors for the wedding are a light purple and silver – so pretty. I bought the paper from Paper Source and used plum and silver shimmer card stock. The champagne flute stamp is from Paper Source, as well as the silver glitter tape. All the other supplies were already in my craft stash, but easily found at any craft store.I chose to use two different fonts on the invitation: Goudy Old Style in small caps and Monterey BT. I really wanted a silver polka sheer paper to cover and protect the invitation in the envelope. After much searching and not finding what I had in my head, I decided to use simple tissue paper with silver sparkles. Yep, the $1.99 kind you use for gift wrapping. I just cut it to size, after I ironed it to try to get out the creases. The creases didn’t come out 100%, but I think it still worked. I made wrap around labels for the envelopes and trimmed the edge to coordinate with the edge on the champagne flute diamond on the invitation. I thought it made a pretty presentation for the guests. Sissy texted me when she received her invitation. Lots of happy happy happy! What more could an Aunt ask for?
