Click, Inspire, Smile Day 8:: The Written Word

Hello.  This is Day 8 of my Click, Inspire, Smile 31 day series. To read all the posts in order, start with Day 1 and I hope you find goodness throughout the entire month of October.

Spelling WordsI’m sure you already know this.

But in case you’re a new reader, I’ll let the cat out of the bag.

I love books.   I love the written word.  There… I said it.  The cat is running around now…perhaps Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat?  Yes, I know.  Corny.  I’m like that sometimes.

There is something magical about how a book comes alive as the words are woven to tell a story.  There is something wondrous about watching a child learn to read and write.

One of my favorite things is to see the Girlies reading a book.  Big Sis M always has a book in tow.  Little Miss C is discovering how cool it is to read.  I think it’s amazing how a child goes from learning to name letters to sounding each letter out to blending the sounds to make a word and then stringing words together to form a sentence.  We take reading for granted now.  We read without thinking about the process, but think about the process of learning to read.  Super cool!

I love to curl up with a good book.  It usually happens the last 15 minutes of each day before I turn out the light and fall asleep.  I’m in my pjs, I’ve checked as many things as I can off the “to do” list during the day, lunches are packed for the Girlies and I can sit back, relax and disappear in a book.  Ahhh!

Do you like to read?  Have you read any good books lately?  Please share.

Until tomorrow my friend~

  1. I love curling up and getting into a book!

  2. I agree. Especially on a rainy day with popcorn and a crackling fire!
