This is my first Christmas Home Tour
… and in just a nick of time! Only 10 days til Christmas.
If you’re new here, I’m very excited you stopped by to say hello!
If we’re already good friends, you know the way in.
Grab a slice of birthday cake (yep, today is my birthday!) and stay a while.
I’m also participating in Jennifer Rizzo’s Holiday House Walk.
Welcome to our home at Christmas time!
In decorating our home at Christmas time, I like to use natural elements like evergreen garlands and pinecones with red berries.
On the front door, we have an evergreen wreath on the outside and a boxwood wreath on the inside. Who says you can’t have two wreaths on one door?? I used my Silhouette machine to make the angel and added a simple ribbon to hang the boxwood wreath.
In our study room, I decorated this tree with soft creams and golds with twinkling clear lights. All the ornaments ~glitter initials, angel card stock cutouts, clear glass balls with special messages~ are handmade and meaningful to our family. I’ll share more about this tree another day.
On Thanksgiving weekend, we make a special day of cutting down the tree. It’s a wonderful tradition and always an adventure to find “the perfect” tree! This is our family tree and it is decorated with treasured ornaments from our Girlies and vacations and family and friends. I especially adore each and every ornament our Girlies have made… handprints and thumbprints and cut felt and pictures with stickers. I can’t wait to see what special handmade ornaments they make this year at school!
Our kitchen is festive with more natural elements like poinsettias and small cypress trees. The kitchen is a high traffic area (Isn’t that always true?!), so I tend to keep the decorations simple.
One of my favorite things in our kitchen is the new chalkboard! I’m excited to change the message with each new season. However, it will be hard to erase this prayer. I smile when I read it. Amen!
14 of my blogging friends are also sharing their beautiful Christmas homes. It’s not too late to incorporate some of these simple and festive ideas into your home, especially if you haven’t had a chance to decorate yet. Have fun seeing all the wonderful ideas! I know I will.
