A Classic Christmas Tablescape {It’s a Wonderful Week of Christmas Blog Tour}

Classic Christmas Tablescape by Candlelight Collage - Our Rosey LifeIt’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas.  Ev’rywhere you go.  Take a look in the five and ten, glistening once again with candy canes and silver lanes aglow.

Ok.  I know you’re thinking,
Ummm…. What the heck is she talking about?  I’m thinking about how to cook my Thanksgiving turkey, bake a pumpkin pie and set my table before folks arrives next Thursday.

Fair point.  But just think about it.  Before long, in a little over a week, you’ll be humming…
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas, while hanging ornaments on your Christmas tree.Napkin Pinecone Classic Christmas Tablescape - Our Rosey Life

And rather than run around Christmas Eve day frantically trying figure out how to set your table, let’s get those creative thoughts flowing now.  While you’re singing those classic Christmas carols, let’s set a classic Christmas table for your loved ones and good friends.A Classic Christmas Tablescape - Our Rosey Life

I love a happy Christmas plaid.  You can’t go wrong with the classics – red, green and white with a little gold and silver for sparkle.  I bought the table runner at Target (no they aren’t paying me to say this).  Inspiration found!   And I placed it over a crisp, white tablecloth.  Plaid runner & crystal classic Christmas Tablescape - Our Rosey Life

For each place setting, I mixed two different china patterns, added my Grandma’s silverware and some crystal goblets.  The green napkins are merry with a simple red ring and a spring of evergreen, which I cut from the trees in my yard.  I always try to add natural elements to my table settings, because Mother Nature does a pretty good job at perfection.Full place setting classic Christmas Tablescape - Our Rosey Life

I want my guests to feel special and I think place cards add that personal touch.  Who doesn’t like to see their name?  Our Girlies love it!  This year, I wove natural elements with a happy Christmas plaid and a little gold sparkle.  I’ll share how I made the place card wreaths next week – so simple and yet the festive, glamour for the table!Wreath place card classic christmas tablescape - Our Rosey Life

There really isn’t a true centerpiece.  Instead, it’s an eclectic gathering of pinecones, candles and rustic Christmas trees.  I painted some pinecones with white tips and other pinecones a matte gold and scattered them around.  For a soft glow and interest, I used different votive candles and pillar candles.  Lastly, I added two rustic Christmas trees.

And that’s our classic Christmas table setting for this year.  I hope it inspires you to set a lovely table for your family and friends!  And while you’re pulling out your dishes and candlesticks, sing a carol or two…   I did.

Have a holly, jolly Christmas;  It’s the best time of the year.  I don’t know if there’ll be snow but have a cup of cheer.

  1. This has totally inspired me! And I’m ususally not into Christmas before Thanksgiving. But we’re going home to my parent’s in AZ for the whole holiday and I think I’d actually have the time there to do an “Arizona at Christmas table.” Now I’m all excited! Thanks.

    • Marian,
      You are so sweet! I’m glad you’re inspired. Maybe instead of Christmas trees you can have a Christmas cactus. Just kidding. I grew up in AZ, so I know you can get trees.

  2. Your tablescape is beautiful Michele! Make sure to link it up next week at the scoop!

  3. I can’t wait to read about the wreaths. Love the entire tablescape. Beautiful. Some great inspiration!
